         Russell K. Dutcher, III is the son of Russell K., Jr. and Alda Jean (Durbin) Dutcher. He was born on 19 December 1959 in Elizabeth, Union County, New Jersey.

         By serving in the United States Naval Reserve, he carries on a long family history of serving in the "sea services." His 9x's Great Grandfather, Wilhem Janszen "van Heerde' ye Duitcher, served in the Royal Dutch navy, under the Command of Admiral Maaten Harpertszoom Tromp, during the fight for Dutch Independence against the Spanish Empire.

         He is related to three original of the original Continental Marine Officers, Capt. James Disney, Lieutenant Abraham Van Dyke and Lieutenant Peregrine Brown. Additionally, two uncles, Mathew and Charles Dutcher, served in the War Between the States and held the ranks of Warrant Gunner and Paymaster, in the United States Navy.

         His father, Russell K. Dutcher, Jr. served as a Sergeant in Co. A., 2nd Armored Amphibious Battalion, Fleet Marine Force, during the Korean War. Also, his uncle, Thomas P. Durbin, served as a Chief Petty Officer in the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts.

         The family naval tradition is carried on by his nephew, who serves a a Corporal in the Marine Carps and is currently attached to the FMF.

         Mr. Dutcher attended Kean College, Middlesex County College and is currently completing his degree in Labor Relations through Indiana University.

         He is employed by Bell Atlantic Corporation as an Administrator in Special Access Accounts. Also, he is a Certified Genealogist, Manager, Trainer and Construction Project Manager, who heads his own business, East Jersey Lineage Consultants, Inc.

         He is also seeking National Project Management Certification through the Project Management Institute and has attended required courses at Villanova University.

         Mr. Dutcher is involved in local politics and has run for School Board, Middlesex County Freeholder and was chosen to run for the New Jersey Assembly in the 19th Legislative District. He has since pulled out of the race due to family commitments.

         His involvement in the community is through the Woodbridge Township Chamber of Commerce, Boys Scouts, Non Commissioned Officers Association of the United States, the Naval Enlisted Reserve Association and NAVetsUSA.
