Entered the Navy in Dallas, TX, boot camp Great Lakes followed by ANP
School , Normanyyy to, OK. Off to the real world with 4 ships in 4
years, USs Ashland LSD 1' USS Intrepid CV 11', and USS Valcour AVP 55.
After surviving the Persian Gulf it was off to shore duty at Fasron 108
Brunswick, ME. 4 years to the day since that fatefull day in Dallas, I took
the rating exam for AO3. Next came 6 years of VP duty with Patron 21 with
AO1 coming in Nov, 62. In 1967 someone invented the A7A Corsair II and
most able bodied Ordies found them selves Haze Grey and underway to
SE Asia. The hat arrived in April 1968 while attached toVA 82 at Cecil Field.
Got lucky in 1972 and picked up the Pin stripe, 3 more years of tail hooks
with VA 83 led to bad health and disability retirement in 1976.
Since E9 pays better than W2, I gave up my key to the " O " Club and
reverted.
