After completing A School I was assigned to VS-24 then operating on
the USS Essex. Came aboard in Southport England October or November
1961 for the duration of the North Atlantic Cruise and the
Berlin Crisis. VS-24 was reassigned to the USS Intrepid for
the balance of my tour. As an aircrewman I saw duty in Norfolk, VA,
Boston, MA , Cherry Point, NC. Jacksonville, FL , Quante Point, RI,
Key West, FL days prior to the announced Cuban Crisis and Cuba
and Jacksonville during the crisis.

Would like to meet old mates and find out if Anti Submarine Warfare
Squadron VS-24 is still active, if so where and is there a
group for this squadron?

Regards,
Joe Rucci, proud to be a US Navy vet
