Served from August 1967 to August 1971. Upon graduation
from Great Lakes Recruit Training attended Aviation "A"
school in Memphis , Tenn. Graduated as a AXAN and was
assigned to VS-32 in Quonset Point, Rhode Island. Served
on the "line crew" and became a plane captain. Served
aboard the USS Essex CVS-9 and USS Wasp CVS-18 when squadron
was deployed. Also worked in 'Mad Shack " repairing "MAD"
equipment. Changed rate to AT to get promoted to AT3. Later
worked on radios and navigation equipment. Made two North
Atlantic cruises aboard the USS Wasp and an Apollo space
recovery mission in the Atlantic. Received an honorable discharge
