DRAFTED DEC 5, 1955-ATTENDED BOOT CAMP BAINBRIDGE, MD.AFTER BOOT LEAVE REPORTED TO NORFOLK,VA TO BE SHIPPED TO GTMO FOR ASSIGNMENT TO USS SALEM CA139.RETURNED TO BOSTON ON SALEM AND LEFT FOR EXTENDED MEDITERRANEAN CRUISE ON MAY 1, 1956. SPENT NEXT YEAR AND HALF IN MEDITERRANEAN AS MEMBER OF FOX DEVISION AND ATTAINED 3RD CLASS PETTY OFFICER RANK (FTA3) BEFORE BEING HIGH-LINED TO FLEET OILER BEING ROTATED HOME. RELEASED TO INACTIVE DUTY IN SEPT 1957 AND RECEIVED HONORABLE DISCHARGE IN 1961.
